FEP

Faculty Enrichment Program

The Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade annually awards a number of travel grants administered by the International Council for Canadian Studies (ICCS / CIEC). They serve the preparation of university courses (FEP) or shorter research visits in connection with the publication of research results (FRP). The scholarships are intended to allow for intensive research at Canadian universities, libraries or archives possible.

FEP is primarily aimed at teachers at universities and other higher educational institutions with the aim to promote their knowledge and understanding about Canada. In particular, it is intended to serve the preparation of new courses (lectures, seminars, etc.) or the restructuring of existing courses about Canada (or ones with predominantly Canadian topics) which are to be included in the regular curriculum. The program is designed to allow teachers to gain the required experience in Canada for the planned courses as well as to gather documentation and to network with other scholars. It is primarily aimed at disciplines such as literature, history, political science, sociology, geography and human sciences in the broadest sense. Purely scientific or technical disciplines such as physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, medicine, engineering, etc. are usually excluded from this program.
