Call for Submissions for Canadian Studies Mini Colloquium (Online)
23rd Annual Event of the Emerging Scholars Forum: Teaching Indigenous Studies
Friday, November 20, 2026 | 13:00-18:30 CET | Online (Zoom)
The Canadian Studies Mini Colloquium within our 2026 annual event offers an online platform for emerging scholars to share and discuss their ongoing research projects, upcoming talks, or planned articles with peers and experts in the field. We welcome proposals from scholars at the BA through the postdoctoral levels who are working on research projects with a strong focus on Canadian Studies. Whether you would like to address the theory, methodology, or content of your ongoing research, all research aspects and angles are welcome. Your submission can be a work in progress toward a final BA or MA thesis, an early draft of a PhD project proposal, an excerpt from a (planned) dissertation chapter, or any other research project you are currently working on. Disciplines may include, but are not limited to, Language, Literature and Culture in Anglophone and Francophone Canada; Women*, Gender and Queer Studies; Geography and Economics; History; Political Science; Sociology; and Indigenous and Cultural Studies.
During the online colloquium, presenters will have the chance to frame their projects and raise questions in a brief presentation (about 5-10 minutes), followed by an in-depth discussion (about 15-20 minutes). The colloquium will last 90 minutes, and submissions will be grouped into parallel sessions, so that the audience can choose which discussion they want to participate in.
If you are interested, please send your project draft in English, French, or German to Lisa Woldrich (lisa.woldrich[at]uni-passau.de) and Can Aydın (can.aydin[at]tu-dresden.de) by September 15, 2026.
What We Need From You:
- Title of your presentation
- Abstract of your project/paper (about 450-500 words)
- Preferred language you would like to present in (English, French, German)
- A short biographical note (maximum 200 words), including the applicant’s name; preferred pronouns, if you wish; email address; and university affiliation
We look forward to receiving your submission!
