As part of our activities, the Emerging Scholars Forum organizes a conference for ECRs, which has been held annually since 2004. We are also part of the annual conference of the Association for Canadian Studies in German-Speaking Countries (GKS), where we organize two panels for ECRs. Both formats offer a space to present work-in-progress papers and discuss them with colleagues from different career stages and disciplines. In this way, we want to support emerging scholars entering and shaping academic structures. Other formats (co-) organized by the Emerging Scholars Forum include online workshops and colloquia.
One of our core aims is to provide an interface for existing networks of emerging researchers whose work engages with Turtle Island, and thus to contribute to facilitating and deepening regional, national, and international cooperation among ECRs. In addition to regional exchange and collaborations in German-speaking countries, the Emerging Scholars Forum also actively contributes to the networking of international ECRs, for instance as part of the International Network of Emerging Scholars in Canadian Studies.
Zu den Aktivitäten des Nachwuchsforums gehört die Organisation einer Konferenz für ECRs, die seit 2004 jährlich stattfindet. Zudem sind wir auf der Jahrestagung der Gesellschaft für Kanada-Studien (GKS) mit zwei eigenen Panels vertreten. Beide Formate bieten u.a. Raum, um work-in-progress Arbeiten vorzustellen und mit Kolleg*innen unterschiedlicher Karrierestufen und Disziplinen zu diskutieren. Auf diese Weise wollen wir den Einstieg in akademische Strukturen für Nachwuchswissenschaftler*innen begleiten. Andere Formate, die das Nachwuchsforum (mit-) organisiert, umfassen beispielsweise online Workshops und Kolloquien.
Ein weiteres Anliegen des Nachwuchsforums ist es, bereits existierenden Netzwerken für Nachwuchswissenschaftler*innen, deren Arbeit sich mit Turtle Island beschäftigt, eine Schnittstelle zu bieten. Dies soll die regionale, nationale und internationale Kooperation unter ECRs sowohl in deutschsprachigen Ländern als auch darüber hinaus erleichtern und intensivieren. Beispielsweise trägt das Nachwuchsforum aktiv zur Vernetzung von ECRs im Rahmen des International Network of Emerging Scholars in Canadian Studies bei.
Dans le cadre de nos activités, Forum de la Relève Académique organise une conférence pour la relève académique (ECRs – Early Career Researchers), qui se tient chaque année depuis 2004. Nous participons également à la conférence annuelle de l’Association d’Études Canadiennes dans les Pays de Langue Allemande (GKS), où nous organisons deux panels pour les ECRs. Ces deux formats offrent un espace pour présenter des travaux en cours et en discuter avec des collègues de différents stades de carrière et de différentes disciplines. Ainsi, nous voulons faciliter aux ECRs l’entrée dans les structures académiques et les accompagner. Parmi les autres formats (co-)organisés par le Forum de la Relève Académique, les ateliers et les colloques en ligne peuvent être trouvés.
Un autre objectif principal est d’offrir une interface aux réseaux existants pour les ECRr travaillant sur l’île de la Tortue, et de contribuer ainsi à faciliter et à approfondir la coopération régionale, nationale et internationale entre les ECRs. Outre les échanges et collaborations dans les pays germanophones, le Forum de la Relève Académique contribue également activement à la mise en réseau des ECRs internationaux, par exemple dans le cadre du Réseau international des ECRs en études canadiennes ou du Réseau international de chercheurs.euses émergent.e.s en études québécoises (RICEEQ).

Emerging Scholars Colloquium at the 47th Annual Conference of the Association for Canadian Studies in German-speaking Countries (GKS)

The Emerging Scholars Colloquium is organized by the Emerging Scholars Forum (NWF/ESF) of the Association for Canadian Studies in German-Speaking Countries (GKS) as part of the 47th Annual Conference of the GKS “Climate Change, Climate Crisis: Canadian Perspectives”. It is open to all emerging scholars working and wishing to discuss their ongoing or planned projects in various disciplines connected to Canadian and Quebec Studies.
Das Kolloquium wird vom Nachwuchsforum (NWF/ESF) der Gesellschaft für Kanada-Studien im deutschsprachigen Raum (GKS) im Rahmen der 47. Jahrestagung der GKS „Climate Change, Climate Crisis: Canadian Perspectives“. Es steht allen Nachwuchswissenschaftlern offen, die in verschiedenen Disziplinen der Kanada- und Québec-Studien arbeiten und ihre laufenden oder geplanten Projekte diskutieren möchten.
Le séminaire des jeunes chercheurs est organisé par le Forum des jeunes chercheurs (NWF/ESF) de l’Association pour les études canadiennes dans les pays germanophones (GKS) dans le cadre de la 47e conférence annuelle de la GKS intitulée « Changement climatique, crise climatique : Perspectives canadiennes ». Il est ouvert à tous les jeunes chercheurs qui travaillent et souhaitent discuter de leurs projets en cours ou prévus dans diverses disciplines liées aux études canadiennes et québécoises.
