Organized by the Emerging Scholars Forum as part of the “Ecologies – Environments – Ethics” February 18-20, 2022, Grainau, Germany 42nd Annual Conference of the Association for Canadian Studies in German-Speaking Countries (GKS)
The Emerging Scholars Colloquium will offer a space for emerging scholars to share and discuss their ongoing research projects with peers and experts. Any emerging scholar from the BA to the PostDoc level working on a dissertation or a long-term research project in or with a strong emphasis on Canadian Studies is invited to submit a proposal. Besides contributions addressing the overall conference topic of ecology, environmental studies, and ethics (please find the general CFP here), we welcome any project presentations within the field of Canadian Studies.
To ensure the exchange between emerging scholars, peers and experts, the emphasis will be on the dialogue between participants and attendees. As such, we invite proposals for brief 10-minute presentations of the main ideas of your projects and key questions for the following 20-minute discussion. This extensive exchange will allow participants to gain insightful new perspectives regarding their own projects. To provide a basis for a stimulating discussion, participants are invited to pre-circulate a longer paper that allows for an in-depth look at issues that could not be addressed during their short presentations.
Please submit abstracts of max. 250 words and a short bio of approximately 100 words to Johanna Lederer and Manuel J. Sousa Oliveira at nwf.grainau2022@gmail.com by October 31, 2021. If accepted, participants will be asked to submit their in-depth paper of around 2000 words by January 16, 2022. Presentations and papers should be submitted in English, French, or German.The conference is planned to be held in-person but is subject to the dynamic development of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Le colloque des Jeunes Chercheur.se.s: les projets de recherche en cours organisé par le Forum de la Relève Académique de l’Association d’Études Canadiennes dans les Pays de Langue Allemande
dans le cadre du 42ème congrès annuel de l’Association d’Études Canadiennes dans les Pays de Langue Allemande Écologies – Environnements – Éthiques 18-20 février 2022, Grainau, Allemagne

Le colloque des jeunes chercheur.se.s offrira aux jeunes chercheur.se.s la possibilité de présenter leurs projets de recherche en cours et d’en discuter avec leurs pairs et des experts. Nous invitons tous.tes jeunes chercheur.se.s travaillant sur un projet à long terme – soit une thèse de maîtrise/doctorat, soit un projet de recherche – dans le domaine ou avec un accent clair sur les études canadiennes à soumettre un résumé. Au-delà des propositions qui traitent les thèmes de la conférence Écologies – Environnements – Éthiques (Veuillez trouver l’appel à contributions du congrès ici), toutes les autres propositions dans le domaine interdisciplinaire des études canadiennes seront également bienvenues.
Le colloque vise à ouvrir un dialogue entre les jeunes chercheur.se.s, leurs pairs et les experts. A ce titre, nous invitons les jeunes chercheur.se.s à soumettre des résumés pour des présentations d’environ 10 minutes des idées principales de leurs projets ainsi que des questions afin d’ouvrir la discussion. Les courtes présentations seront suivies par une discussion extensive d’environ 20 minutes permettant aux participant.e.s de gagner de nouvelles perspectives aussi pour leurs propres projets. Afin d’avoir une discussion plus riche, les participant.e.s seront invité.e.s à circuler un article plus long en avance se penchant sur les sujets qui ne pourront pas être abordés pendant leurs présentations plus courtes.

Sousa Oliveira via courriel à nwf.grainau2022@gmail.com avant le 31 octobre 2021, dernier délai. Nous demanderons aux participant.e.s choisi.e.s de nous soumettre un article d’environ 2000 mots avant le 16 janvier 2022. Les présentations et articles peuvent être soumis en anglais, français ou allemand. La conférence est prévue de se tenir en personne mais elle est soumise à l’évolution dynamique de l’épidémie de COVID-19.
